Triple talaq (divorce), 'nikah halala' (forms of divorce) and
polygamy violate Muslim women's right to equality and dignity and are not
protected by the right to profess, practice and propagate religion under
Article 25(1) of the Constitution, the Centre told the Supreme Court.

However the Honble Supreme Court of India, has waved the six months period in CIVIL APPEAL No. 4490 OF 2016 (in some exceptional cases) in Mutual Consent Divorce. The spouses who desires to obtain divorce through Mutual Consent, should talk to each other about the future course of action
