A Muslim woman from Nalasopara, Mumbai was given triple talaq (divorce) by her husband had approached the Bombay High Court seeking to outlaw the practice of nikah halala and polygamy in the community. She also urged the court to set aside the triple talaq (divorce) granted to her by her husband. Nikah Halala is a practice followed by some Muslim sects where a female divorcee who wants to marry her former husband, is supposed to marry another man first, consummate the marriage, then get a divorce from the second husband in order to remarry her previous husband.
