SUPREME COURT INVOKES EXTRAORDINARY POWERS TO END MARRIAGE AFTER WOMAN SKIPS HEARINGS

The Supreme Court dissolved a marriage after the wife refused to respond to its notice to appear in court to contest the case. The court used its power under Article 142 (article 142- ‘empowers the Supreme Court to pass order as is necessary for doing complete justice in any cause or matter pending before it’.) to dissolve the marriage without hearing the wife as she refused to respond to its notice issued on the husband’s plea.
