In a landmark verdict to protect the rights of Muslim Women,
the Supreme Court banned the ‘triple talaq’ (divorce) or ‘talaq (divorce)-e-biddat’
(instantaneous divorce by uttering ‘talaq’ thrice in one go), a form of divorce
followed by Muslims for centuries, and said that it is not integral to
religious practice and violates constitutional morality.
