A
woman AIMPLB member, Uzma Naheed, said that she had suggested in 1994 a
provision in the nikahnama (Islamic marriage contract) giving women the right
to pronounce talaq (divorce), but it didn’t find place in the board’s model
nikahnama (Islamic marriage contract) released in 2005.
