KEEP KIN OUT OF DOWRY CASES, UNLESS CASE IS MADE OUT: SUPREME COURT


The Supreme Court has cautioned the courts from proceeding with the trial when the police had roped in all the relatives of husband as accused in dowry harassment cases. Giving this ruling, the bench said that the courts should be careful in proceeding against the distant relatives in crimes pertaining to matrimonial disputes and dowry deaths. The judgment came on a petition from some relatives of the husband of a woman who filed a complaint of dowry harassment in Hyderabad. She accused the husband and his maternal uncles of conspiring to torture her and kidnap her son from the U.S.
